WE WAIT

An immersive VR experience following a Syrian family's perilous journey from Turkey to Greece. Working with BBC Connected Studios and Aardman Animations, I co-directed the experience along with designing the overall look of picture.

It was based on real accounts gathered from BBC News reporters and United Nations staff and developed into an animated immersive VR experience with users placed at the heart of the story to encourage greater empathy towards the plight of migrants.

The challenge was developing new approaches to directing attention, performance and storytelling within a fully interactive environment, by putting the viewer at the heart of the story, we could trigger empathy as the viewer is exposed to the sense of anticipation and suspense experienced by those displaced and forced into perilous boat journeys.
