An Aardman collaboration with Peter Gabriel and artist, Antony Micallef. Antony’s artwork ‘a small painting of what I think love looks like’ was chosen by Peter to accompany his track ‘Love Can Heal’ from his i/o album. My task was to bring his artwork to life through a blend of hand drawn elements and 3D techniques. I worked closely with Antony in translating his visual language into moving imagery for the promo, in order to retain the essence of the original painting. To the point Antony was providing me with bespoke marks and brushstrokes which I used as basis for many layers of 2D animation and 3D projections.
The final piece was also used in Peter’s live shows internationally as live visuals, both behind and in front of the band.
